Join MOVA Globes for a night of dancing, entertainment, and amazing people.
Los Angeles, CA, April 8, 2022 — MOVA International, the innovative manufacturer of its one-of-a-kind rotating MOVA Globes, is announced as the official award sponsor for Yuri’s Night, a bicoastal celebration of Yuri Gagarin, the first human in space, held at the California Science Center in Los Angeles, California on April 9th and at the Kennedy Space Center in Merritt Island, Florida on April 16th.
MOVA is the official sponsor of the Spirit of Yuri’s Night Award, an annual award presented to a person or team that embodies the Yuri’s Night mission by using music and art to make space cool. This year’s award honors the four members of the all-civilian Inspiration 4 Crew: Dr. Sian Proctor, Chris Sembroski, Hayley Arceneaux, and Jared Isaacman, for their human spaceflight mission in 2021. Past honorees include OK Go, Duran Duran, and Elon Musk’s SpaceX.
MOVA will have several of their unique outer space globes prominently displayed throughout both events, showcasing its mesmerizing rotations powered by ambient light and the earth’s magnetic field. “MOVA Globes are truly mesmerizing, and we are excited to have them back with us at Yuri’s Night this year,” said Christy Fair, Yuri’s Night Los Angeles Director.
“Yuri’s Night is an excellent opportunity for our company to give back to the space community, who have been such a big part of the MOVA family,” said Christine Hsieh, COO for MOVA. Hsieh continued, “This year, we are donating funds directly to the Cosmic Odyssey scholarship, an organization supported by Yuri’s Night that sends families affected by pediatric cancer on a trip to Family Space Camp in Huntsville, Alabama. It’s our way of supporting causes for space, while helping families in need.”

About MOVA Globes
MOVA International was created with a simple premise – that life should be savored. Founded in 2003, MOVA International is headquartered in Los Angeles, California. Our one-of-a-kind product, the MOVA Globe, was created by Bill French in his basement in a small San Diego beach town, Cardiff-by-the-Sea. A physicist and inventor, Bill was inspired by his love for solar energy and magnetism. Each globe has a transparent outer shell, made from carefully selected, high-quality acrylic, that remains stationary while an internal one rotates using advanced magnets for torque and solar cells to power the movement. No batteries. No wires. Just light. MOVA Globes transcend style barriers with a product that is equal parts luxury décor, a techie’s dream and magic.
About Yuri’s Night
Yuri’s Night is a grassroots annual event with hundreds of parties around the globe (and beyond!) centered around April 12, the anniversary of the first human spaceflight and the first launch of the space shuttle. These events celebrate all that humanity brings with us as we explore the cosmos: music, art, science, culture, and each other! Local groups, science centers, museums, NGOs, and other non-profit groups independently produce events in the US and worldwide. We use space to bring the world together, to empower the greatest parts of who we are, and give vision to where we are going.
